"Things from another world" Russel Mackey, the constable from the earlier adventure, sends a message for the characters to please return to Pernambuco. It seems that lately, there are reports of a "strange creature" along the edge of Pernambuco... it is not very large but few people who saw it returned to tell the tale. To make matters worse, several Deathlands diver cars have vanished. The characters have dealt with the weird before (and a new player has experience as a Deathlands Diver) and are officially requested to assist the investigation.

The "Thing(s)" are Kiskit operatives looking for uranium. They followed Jake Cutirick's freighter into the lowlands (but lost him on the way in). Finding a lot of uranium in the area they are beginning a mining operation. Unfortunately, human operations are beginning to crimp their style, but since Chariot is essentially isolated from the Starcluster... they feel they have a bit more "leeway" in their efforts.

This quickly went from an investigation to a "bug hunt"... but I anticipated that and it turned out well. After getting their clock cleaned by a few "Things", and barely escaping by keeping operations around an active volcano to distract them, the gang decides it's time to talk to the incarcerated Jake Cutirick. Cutirick offers assistance (including weapons on his ship) in exchange for his freedom... it soon becomes obvious that the characters have little choice. They take a Dive car to Cutirick's ship, unfortunately the EM generated by activating the various systems immediately attracts the Kiskit's attention and they take their own vessel over to investigate. With a few weapons from Cutirick's hold the gang makes a stand while Jake gets his systems online... and blasts off. Even with some new "toys" the gang is overmatched so I pull the Deus Ex Machina... realizing that this is in many ways his fault, Jake flies up behind the Kiskit vessel and attacks. Sup! rised, the craft is destroyed... but not before breaching Jake's own hull. Jake unfortunally has part of his spacesuit off at the time and though he manages a crash landing and survives, he is badly burned and irradiated.

The gang gives the merchant a heroes burial and decieds to detonate a nearby embankment to bury Jake's ship... concerned that it's presence may draw more of the horrible aliens to them. Weary, but successful, they return to a reward, some rest, and then take off... current heading as far away from the area as possible.

The few technological gadgets and weapons they did obtain are locked away for emergency use in the aptly named crate #51.
